Sentence Analysis by Case-Based Reasoning

چکیده
In this paper we propose a sentence analysis which relies on case-based reasoning principles. Our approach provides a semantic interpretation of a sentence in natural language, which can be used in a textual data mining process. This analysis is based on several types of knowledge: a thesaurus, a case base and a hierarchy of index. We adopt a case-based reasoning model founded on the classification principles and paths of similarity in order to guarantee the adaptability.

Using Semantic Information to Improve Case Retrieval in Case-Based Reasoning Systems
Conventional Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) systems rely on word knowledge to index and search cases from its memory. On being presented with a problem, the Case-Based Reasoning system tries to retrieve a relevant case based on the words that appear in the problem sentence without considering their respective senses. Drawbacks of such systems become more evident in cases where the input is in the f...
متن کاملTowards Case-Based Parsing: Are Chunks Reliable Indicators For Syntax Trees?
This paper presents an approach to the question whether it is possible to construct a parser based on ideas from case-based reasoning. Such a parser would employ a partial analysis of the input sentence to select a (nearly) complete syntax tree and then adapt this tree to the input sentence. The experiments performed on German data from the Tüba-D/Z treebank and the KaRoPars partial parser show...
متن کاملLicense Plate location Determination by Using Case-Based Reasoning
The license plate recognition system is part of the intelligent transportation system. In the intelligent transportation system, the vehicle image is used as the system input. The first step is to improve the image, after the edge detection, a series of morphological operations are performed to identify the plaque. The main purpose of this research was to increase the importance of plate re...
متن کاملRecent Advances in Example - Based Machine Translation
This book, an outcome of a 2001 workshop on Example-Based Machine Translation (EBMT) in Santiago de Compostela, very appropriately starts with a preface by professor Makoto Nagao in which he explains how the limits of rule-based Machine Translation (MT) led him to propose his translation by analogy principle in 1981 (published as Nagao, 1984). His idea, inspired by second language learning meth...
متن کاملINTEGRATING CASE-BASED REASONING, KNOWLEDGE-BASED APPROACH AND TSP ALGORITHM FOR MINIMUM TOUR FINDING
Imagine you have traveled to an unfamiliar city. Before you start your daily tour around the city, you need to know a good route. In Network Theory (NT), this is the traveling salesman problem (TSP). A dynamic programming algorithm is often used for solving this problem. However, when the road network of the city is very complicated and dense, which is usually the case, it will take too long fo...
